Rates from Frankfurter (ECB reference rates) Not for trading or transfers

About these exchange rates

This converter fetches daily reference exchange rates from Frankfurter, a free and open public API backed by the European Central Bank. Rates are published once per business day (the ECB doesn't publish on weekends or EU holidays), so this reflects the latest available daily rate rather than a live, tick-by-tick trading feed.

What "mid-market rate" means

The numbers shown are the raw mid-market rate — the midpoint between buy and sell prices in the wholesale currency market. Banks, card networks and money transfer services almost always add a margin on top of this rate, so the amount you actually receive when exchanging money will typically be slightly less favorable. Use this tool to compare offers and estimate costs, not as a transfer quote.

Good for

  • Budgeting for a trip or estimating a purchase in another currency.
  • Sanity-checking a quote from a bank or exchange service.
  • Quick back-of-envelope conversions for work or study.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the exchange rates come from?

Rates come from Frankfurter, a free public API that publishes daily reference rates from the European Central Bank. Rates update once per business day, not tick-by-tick.

Can I use this for sending money or trading?

No. These are daily reference rates, not live trading or transfer rates — banks and money transfer services add their own margin. Use this for estimates, budgeting or travel planning.

Does this tool send my data anywhere?

Only the currency codes you select are used to fetch the exchange rate — no personal information, amounts, or identifying data is ever transmitted.

Why does the rate look slightly different from my bank?

Banks and card networks add a margin (often 1-4%) on top of the reference rate shown here. This converter shows the raw mid-market rate for comparison.
